JCB, Japan’s biggest credit card issuer, has collaborated with technology accelerator TECHFUND to create a secure transaction platform on the blockchain.
The collaboration will leverage TECHFUND ‘s expertise on security token offerings (STOs) and staking to build a new transaction platform, according to a statement released by JCB on May 15. TECHFUND, which also located in Tokyo, has a program called ACCEL BaaS (Blockchain as a Service). Which aims to promote the adoption of blockchain technology for start-ups and businesses.
JCB moves to the blockchain
The financial firm has taken several moves towards innovative online payment solutions. In December, Cointelegraph reported that JCB had plans to introduce a new Business-to-Business (B2B) payment system based on blockchain technology.
