[email protected] donors Increases by 1200% in Just 4-weeks

[email protected] is a globally recognized platform that diverts donations of unused computational power toward medical and scientific research. On Feb 27, [email protected] has announced a one-of-its-kind initiative to harness a global computer network and contribute the same work towards pharmaceutical drugs to win the battle against COVID-19.

Crypto Endorsements help [email protected] Fight Coronavirus

Strong engagement from the cryptocurrency community is what helping [email protected]’s boost in donations. Coreweave is the largest U.S. based Ethereum miner, which has diverted the computational power of approximately 6,000 graphics processing units (GPUs). Coreweave’s CTO estimated that the donated resources equated to 0.2% of Ethereum’s total hash rate.

In the past few weeks, the [email protected] platform received several endorsements and support from decentralized computing networks like Golem, and blockchain platform, Tezos. They have organized a pool of donations of several hundred XTZ which will be awarded later by the end of this month to the largest [email protected] donor. As of March 12, Tezos already had 20 teams contributing resources to the platform.

On March 14, GPU chip manufacturer Nvidia revealed that it is contributing to [email protected], urging gamers to join them:

PC gamers, let’s put those GPUs to work. Join us and our friends at @OfficialPCMR in supporting [email protected] and donating unused GPU computing power to fight against COVID-19.
