Accenture has announced its collaboration with Mastercard, Amazon Web Services, Everledger and Mercy Corps to introduce a ‘circular supply chain’ focusing on creation of a blockchain-based transparent supply chain platform. The platform will use digital identity management and blockchain technology to enable direct communication between producers and consumers.
According to David Treat, Managing Director and Global Blockchain Lead at Accenture, directly linking unrecognized businesses with consumers adds value to a product, driving social and environmental change. He has stated that the company and its partners are currently working on in-store, web and app-based implementations, via which consumers will be able to view the complete supply chain journey of a product.
Further detailing, Treat has said that each item will have a tag with a unique digital identifier that’ll be assigned to respective producers. Scanning these tags will let customers view an item’s supply chain journey, from start to finish. Customers will also be able to send token of appreciation to the producers.
