Omniaz, a Singapore based startup, has teamed up with Wine Connection to introduce DRNK, a smart bottle app, leveraging blockchain and IoT technologies. DRNK stands for ‘drink, rewards, network, knowledge’. The app is a part of a decentralized end-to-end platform that’s being developed by NXP Semiconductors, NEM, Smartrac and ProximaX.
Users will be able to access detailed information of the drink they purchase by using the DRNK app. The information will get authenticated on the blockchain. Moreover, buyers will also be able to earn reward points and coupons. Users can do so by tapping or scanning the NFC tags or QR codes on the smart bottles.
As claimed, DRNK will address the challenges existing in the traditional alcoholic beverage industry. The new solution will help companies to better connect with consumers. It will also deliver strategic consumer insights to producers and help in planning effective business strategies.
